President – Gabe Kachuck

Hi There! I’m Gabe Kachuck and I am incredibly honored and pumped to serve you as your Regional President for 2013-2014! If you haven’t met me yet, I hope the next few words that you read about me in this bio are just the start of our friendship and that you come and say hi the next time you see me! If you do know me, then enjoy this bio and chance to get to know me a little better!

I was born in Los Angeles on a superb, sunny Shabbis day in March of 1996 and have lived in Valley Village my whole life (and yes, the East Valley is by far the best valley). Since the day of my birth, I’ve been a member of Adat Ari El, having attended Adat Ari El Mommy and Me and all of elementary school. I have two older brothers, Sam and Aaron, who are older than me by 7 and 11 years respectively,

I am a proud member of the class of 2014 at Milken Community High School. At Milken, my favorite classes are Latin and Jewish Studies. You might respond to the previous sentence with the exclamatory, “Latin?! Are you serious? Isn’t that a dead language?” Well, yes and no, but I can tell you that I have enjoyed ever moment of my five years of studying Latin and have found it very useful on a daily basis. You might also respond the sentence with, “Gabe and Jewish studies….Makes sense to me!” And yes, I love learning about the Jewish tradition, its philosophies (Heschel for the win!), ceremonies, history, and laws.

I also participate in the Model UN, mock trial, and the debate team at Milken. In my spare time, I play piano, read, and enjoy long Shabbis walks.

I started USY in 6th Grade when I attended my first Shabbat dinner hosted by Adat Ari El USY. Ever since that awesome night, I’ve attended as many USY events as I can and have loved every single one of them!

I’m a very proud member of the Tres Rel/Eds, and can’t think of a better way to spend a Friday night than to participate in a late-night Heschel Session.

This past summer of 2012, I attended USY Poland and Israel Pilgrimage, Second Departure (G4!), wherein I was privileged to have one of the most meaningful experiences and adventures of my life with 42 other amazing USYers from all over North America.

Far West USY is my home and I would enjoy nothing more than having the ability to get you as excited as I am for this upcoming year.

I’ll make sure that each program our lovely region hosts is meaningful, inspiring, and most importantly fun. I’ll dedicate my presidency not only to the upcoming regional leadership, but also work my hardest to foster growth in chapter leadership as well. I will shuckle my hardest, sing my loudest, spread my ruach till I can’t ruach no more. I will do this all because I adore you, Far West, and because I want to see us all perform at our greatest potential. Far West, next year is going to be outstanding, and I am exhilarated to be there with you every step of the way.

If you have any questions or just want to hang out, please contact me or find me at the next regional event! Have a good one!
