Cabinet Explanation
Far West Cabinet is a board of eight USYers who have chosen to lead the region. Note that other regions also have a board but it is often called Regional Executive Board or REB. Far West Cabinet consists of President, Executive Programming Vice-President, Israel Affairs Vice-President, Religion/Education Vice-President, Membership/Kadima Vice-President, Social Action/Tikkun Olam Vice-President, Communications Vice-President, and a Parliamentarian. Seven of these officers are nominated and elected at Regional Convention. The latter, Parliamentarian, is appointed by the seven elected officials.
Each elected Cabinet serves for one year from one Regional Convention to the next. To be able to run for Cabinet you must have been on Regional General Board or RGB for at least one year or two years for President. They have to follow certain guidelines and standards for example Kashrut and observe holidays and Shabbat. You can see all the standards in the Regional Constitution.
