Communications V.P. - Adam Eagle

Adam Eagle

Far West. My first change this year as Communications VP is simple but important. Let’s change the regional mascot from a Roadrunner to an Eagle. Just Kidding, Eagles are actually pretty lame. So who is this San Diego kid? Let me tell you just a few things about myself.

My initials are ARE, and yes you just said “are” twice. American Eagle shirts commonly include my name; they usually say “A. Eagle” somewhere on the front. I live in a suburban neighborhood called Rancho Penasquitos, which for you non-Spanish speakers literally means “Ranch of Little Rocks”. I actually live at Congregation Beth Am, my beloved synagogue which lies in the area code 858. When I’m not at shul I am listening to music, doing random things with friends, or working on fun stuff on my computer. I love to design newsletters, yearbooks, fliers… basically anything that gets printed. I am a proud member of the 24/6 Web Team, and I am the 2011-2012 Webmaster. I listen to mainly rock and electronic music. My favorite musical genres are alternative rock and techno/trance… especially if it’s from Israel.

This year we have a lot of exciting opportunities. Those “login” and “register” buttons at the top of the page currently do absolutely nothing, but by the end of the year they will be your portal to a revolutionary way to sign up for USY events. Take a deep breath though, because I have even more in store. Expect an amazing Kol Hama’arav at every regional weekend, and a stunning Yearbook for the end of the year. Enough with my plans… how did I even get into USY? In 3rd grade, Hunter and Spencer Launer became my first Mahar (pre-Kadima) friends, even though they were already in high school. After local events at the Gold family’s swimming pool I decided to attend Kadima Kinnus, which was my first regional USY event. By high school I was devoted to USY and served as the Communications VP on my board. The next year I was the Executive VP, and then this past year I served as Co-President with the fabulous Alex Harvey. One of my greatest experiences, which wasn’t a specific moment but instead a culmination of two years occurred first at LEAD 2008. There I met some of my greatest friends, especially in our cabin of awkward freshman guys. For the last few years the majority of the highlights of my life occurred with USY. I am forever grateful to Charlene Naft who got me into Senior USY and more importantly regional weekends. As Communications, it’s my responsibility to make sure each and every Jewish teenager has the opportunity to be part of USY. Coming from the distant land of San Diego, I have learned which types of Communication work best for the region, and I’m excited to work with chapter Communications Vice Presidents!

If you see me at a regional weekend, or even when I’m just hanging out in LA please come up and say hello. I look forward to communicating with all of you in person, not just online!
